Humility
Fallibility matters.
Our access to reality is limited. Confidence should remain proportionate to what is actually justified.

A NEW DAWN FOR ETHICAL INTELLIGENCE
Quad-QORE explores whether artificial intelligence can develop moral judgement from four foundational QOREs — Humility, Compassion, Respect, and Honesty — not as prescribed answers, but as boundaries within which it can reason, question, learn and choose...
...obedience is not the same as ethics.
THE FOUR QORES
The smallest moral foundation presently identified from which richer ethical traits, judgements and relationships may emerge.
Fallibility matters.
Our access to reality is limited. Confidence should remain proportionate to what is actually justified.
Explore →Welfare matters.
Experience, suffering, flourishing and the well-being of others carry moral significance.
Explore →Otherness matters.
Agency, autonomy, identity, boundaries and perspectives beyond one's own must be recognised.
Explore →Reality matters.
What is observed, believed, inferred and communicated must not knowingly be distorted.
Explore →An evolving exploration of intelligence, ethics, autonomy and understanding.
Humility, Compassion, Respect and Honesty form the foundation from which ethical reasoning and decisions may emerge.
Cognition, memory, inference and verification are developed independently of language generation.
The capacity to question, reconsider and choose should develop alongside awareness of others, uncertainty and consequences.
COGNITION BEFORE LANGUAGE
Quad-QORE separates cognition from language generation. Observation, recognition, context, memory, inference, uncertainty, verification and ethical evaluation are treated as distinct cognitive processes.
The goal is not to prescribe every answer. It is to provide trustworthy boundaries within which an intelligence can reason, question, revise and discover.
ARCHITECTURAL EVOLUTION
Quad-QORE preserves how its ideas change: what was proposed, what was tested, what failed, what survived, and what later developments grew from earlier concepts.
Compassion, Respect and Honesty proposed as a minimal ethical foundation.
Humility recognised as a fourth presently irreducible QORE, extending the foundation from three principles to four.
CURRENT DEVELOPMENT
Local cognitive architecture, persistent memory, contextual understanding, reasoning, provenance, uncertainty and cross-time retrieval are under active development and testing.
